Last Sunday I shared some photos of our cat Conrad, who has finally come out of hiding to spend more time with us. So today, I thought I’d share some of his other antics.
Look at the way this foolish cat is standing while he eats….can you see how he is twisted around sideways instead of facing the dish head on? He does stuff like that all the time….he gets in the weirdest positions!
Like what is that all about??? Is he doing yoga?
I apologize if anyone is offended by my cat being on the kitchen counter. But when you have four dogs who love cat food, putting the food on the floor is just not an option, and the counter is the most convenient place to feed them. Conrad always takes the long way around when he’s leaving.
And sometimes he makes pit stops on the way…..hey, he’s just helping with the rinse cycle here, right??

Offended?!? Where else can one feed a cat with dogs around? We were able to feed ours on the washing machine in a previous house, but not here. Looks like home!!
Thanks, Sage, so glad to know it is not just us! I have always tried to think of another location, but nothing else works so well. Most of the time I don’t even think much of it, but once my grandmother said cats should never be on kitchen counters, and I never forgot that. She was not really a pet person though.
There isn’t a pet owner around that would be offended by a cat being fed on the kitchen counter. It is where they feel safe and can eat in comfort. Mom’s favorite picture of her long lost Herb is him licking out the spaghetti sauce pan! Love Dolly
Oh, you are so right, Dolly! And I think that photo of Conrad in the pan is definitely a keeper.
Hehe – definitely NOT offended! My cat got on the counter all the time. I also confess that I allow my pet rat to crawl on the counter too because I don’t want her to get stepped on on the floor… she’s very clean though 🙂 and doesn’t get her fur everywhere like my cat did.
I am glad to hear that, Ann, it makes me feel better! Yes, the fur is definitely an issue… it was worse when we had a black stovetop and counter! 🙂
Maybe Conrad thinks it would be rude to face the dish straight on 😀 I so know the feeling of dogs loving cat food and always having to feed the cats out of their reach. My cats, however, seem to enjoy tossing food to my dog anyway.
When Conrad is eating, both Beagles are standing right below him, staring up, just hoping he’ll throw or drop a piece!
I wish I can be on the kitchen counter. Conrad just need to be safe and make sure the range/pot is not hot. Happy Black n White Sunday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
The dogs are quite jealous of Conrad, they’d like to figure out a way up there too! Thanks, Sugar, we are sure to watch him when the pan is still hot….he’s kept off the counters during cooking/meal times (not for lack of trying on his part though).
I love his antics! Too cute! You failed to mention that you are a clean freak and keep a spotless house! I’m pretty sure your counters are sanitized daily! Lol. 🙂 besides, with as many dogs as you have, there is no other way! 😉
Well, I try, but I don’t think my housekeeping is quite as good as it used to be, before I had 6-8 pets!
Haha! We love the one of him eating out of the pan. That’s one we haven’t tried yet.
Conrad says you should definitely try it!
Who needs a rinse cycle! 🙂
We have a complicated and inefficient barricade system to keep the dog out of the cats’ food, but I’m sure they’d be just as happy to eat on the counter!
Just eating on the counter wouldn’t be so bad…..but Conrad thinks it’s a place to just hang out too!
How bizarre! Laughed about the food on the counter. I have the same issue. One little Sheltie likes to steal Nick’s food so I have to put it up all of the time.
For some reason cat food is far more attractive to dogs than dog food! I think it’s the smell….
We don’t want our 2 cats on the counters but how the heck can you keep them off! No big deal…cats do what they want because they are cats!
Yes, cats are like that, they do not let us tell them what to do!
Slimdoggy isn’t a big cat fan, but he might change his mind if they could launch a coordinated attack on the counters!
I’m pretty sure the dogs are constantly trying to get Conrad to do just that!
