The other day I heard the Momz say (or mutter under her breath) something about shipping us off to Grandmother’s house for a day (just a day!). I know that having multiple pets can be trying sometimes. Maybe it’s the constant in and out (Sheba) or the endless staring at the kitchen cabinet hoping for a treat (Cricket). Perhaps it’s the sitting in the way on the kitchen counter hoping to get fed (Samantha), or even the whining for attention and/or play time (who, me?).
The only problem with this is that we don’t have a Grandmother! Ours were gone long before we came along, but I’ve heard the Momz and Dadz talk about visits to their own Grammy’s houses. I wondered what a day at a Grammy’s house would be like. With the help of some tasty treats from Merrick I got daydreaming about it….
Ahem! Sam, get off the box of treats so I can illustrate my story!
First of all, notice in all of my “illustrations” that we are wearing red bandanas. I know the Momz would make us dress up for a visit to Grammy’s.

I think our Grammy would bake us cookies, don’t you? Lots of grandmothers bake chocolate chip cookies, but I think pet Grammies would bake Salmon & Potato cookies!
For dinner I think our Grammy would bake us pot pie! It would have chicken, potatoes, peas and carrots, just like this.

Grammies have good china, right? I know they do because these plates belonged to one of my Grammy’s. I know, I know, they probably wouldn’t let the furry kids (or any kids) eat off the good china, but this is my daydream after all!

After dinner I bet we would play games. I’m going to help Grammy fill up the treat games with these yummy Chicken Power Bites (which are one of my favorites for training).

At the end of the day, Grammy would be sure to send us home with clean teeth!

For those of you who have Grammies, did I get it right? It sure was a fun imaginary day, and all of our treats were yummy!
Now the Momz has to tell you some boring, I mean important (to humans) stuff, and also about the giveaway!
The Momz: There is no doubt about it, feeding multiple pets can be expensive, and even challenging if everyone has different dietary needs. We’re lucky to be at a point now where the dogs all eat the same food…that makes things easier. My dream would be to feed them nothing but homemade food and treats, but the reality is that I just don’t have time for that. So we tried to find the best quality food we could, that we could feel safe and comfortable with, and doesn’t break the bank. We’ve settled on Merrick.
We try other foods from time to time but we always come back to Merrick. They have a variety of different foods; we believe in grain free; that’s what we feed, and we try to feed as many grain free treats as we can as well. All of the treats Luke showed you are grain free and gluten free with no corn, soy, or wheat. They are all natural and safely made in the USA with no ingredients from China. Real deboned meat is the first ingredient in all of the treats except the dental bones. I feel like it’s the next best thing to homemade.
I love it when I open a bag of dog treats and it smells like real food! That was especially noticeable with the Pot Pie Kitchen Bites. More importantly, the dogs love them all too.

Going to Grammies sounds like a day of fun.
That is exactly how it would be at grammy’s house, great job guys! This post was fun and I LOVE the treat jar! 😉
Me too!! 🙂
That is what my human granny used to do. She made all of our favorite yummies when we visited her.
awesome post, yay for grammies, whether here now or just in our hearts! Love how the animals did with the visit!!
You guys are very silly! I love all of your cute photos and that you imagine that grammy made you all of those noms!
Your imaginary trip to Grandma’s was very detailed. You were able to have lots of fun and treats and not have to put up with a long car ride. Merrick makes some yummy & healthy cat food too. I hope Sam got some yummies, but the box is always a treat.
Sam can be a bit…particular…about her yummies…but boxes she always loves! We have fed her some Merrick canned food in the past too. I’d like to switch her to their dry food, but with all of her appetite issues, we don’t dare switch her food right now.
I don’t have Grannies either but I’m very hurt that Merrick didn’t send me these dog treats. They usually send me all their dog packages.
Do you eat their dog treats? Samantha likes dogs treats, and often tries to steal them!
I can vouch for Grammas being super awesome at spoiling. I live with my Gramma and Papaw along with their boy, Bentley. Yep, I am definitely spoiled and it is as wonderful as it sounds! BOL! Your Pal, Pierre
Oh, Pierre, you are so lucky to live with your Gramma and Papaw! I am jealous!
Woofs, Luke
Sounds like my own childhood visits to my own Grandma’s house! Great job, Luke! Callie, Shadow, and Ducky’s Grammies were all gone to Heaven long before they came along, too; but Callie and Shadow had one visit from their Grandpa (my Dad) when they were very young. I doubt they even remember him now. I do, though. And I still smile about it. I’ll be publishing my own post later, but right now I have to take Ducky for a visit to the vet.
Uh-oh, I hope it was just a routine vet visit for Ducky?
My parents only knew my very first dog, Shelby. My Dad didn’t like animals too much, so we never had dogs growing up. My Mom loved animals though, and thanks to her we at least had cats.
Ducky’s vet visit the other day was a follow-up visit. She is doing well. We had increased her Prozac (to help treat her IBD) and the vet wanted to check on her progress. I also asked him about a few other general things we’ve discussed before. Thanks for asking!
Maybe there is a rent-a-grandma or something
Lily & Edward
Ha ha, good idea you two!
Barley just got pot pie at her grandma’s house last week (followed by a good teeth brushing!). Going to grandma’s house is too much fun for Barley, though, so I usually tell her I’m going to leave her in a basket on her aunt’s doorstep because her aunt needs a running buddy and Barley doesn’t like endurance activities 😉
Yeah, it’s kind of an empty threat to tell them you’ll send them somewhere they really like!
What a wonderful trip to pretend Grammy’s house!! Sounds about right to me! Great baking, games and clean up!! Check, check and check!! Those look very delish btw!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Our Grammy is allergic to us dogs so we can’t go visit, but our grandad gives us lots of hugs and kisses when he comes to our house to see us! Those treats look really yummy!
Those pot pies look delicious!!

Loved this! Luke is so funny and smart! Sheba & Cricket are adorable and they all clearly enjoyed their imaginary visit to Gramma’s. Samantha looks great, too. ❤️
Luke, you did an awesome job imagining a visit to gramma’s house. My gramma doesn’t bake for us, but she does have tasty stuff for us all the time. Very cute review!
We’re not in a place where we can enter the yummy contest. But I wanted to say how cute Luke’s imaginary visit to Grammy’s house was. 🙂
