Welcome to my new shop! I wish you all lived locally so you could come see it in person! This will mostly be a photo tour, but I just wanted to tell you a little bit about the space I found for my shop. I already mentioned that it’s in the town I grew up in, and across the street from where my hubby works. What I especially love about the space is that it is open and bright, and it is actually an old barn that was refurbished (it’s attached to an apartment building). It was formally a glass/screen repair shop, and I already knew my landlord through my former job. It has turned out to be perfect.
I have had no trouble renting out my vendor booths, in fact, I have a waiting list for people who want to sell their products here! I’ve also added some retail products and many consignments. I sell a combination of handmade, homemade, and vintage products, most acquired locally. I’m currently working on adding even more display fixtures. I met my first two goals – filling the space and covering my rent with booth rentals! However, as expected, business has been pretty slow; I think mostly because of the pandemic; though new businesses always start out slowly anyway.
Opening weekend was very good with a lot of sales, especially of my own farm products. Since then it’s been kind of up and down, with good days and bad. Feedback from the customers who have come in has been great, everyone loves it and is happy to have a shop like this in town. Our state is slowly opening back up and once stay-at-home orders expire, hopefully next week, I think people will be coming out more. I’ll start more advertising then as well, so far I’ve mostly been using Facebook and it has helped to get the word out. If you don’t already follow us on Facebook, you can do so by clicking here, and you’ll see even more of the products I carry. We are also on Instagram @AFarmGirlsFinds. Enjoy the tour!
